WOMANS TIKTOK LIVESTREAM BECOMES KEY EVIDENCE IN FATAL CRASH ARREST

Welcome to Arrest Stories. A forty-three-year-old woman has been arrested and charged with reckless homicide after allegedly livestreaming on TikTok while driving through a red light and fatally striking a pedestrian in Zion, Illinois. Here's what may have happened.

On November third, Tynesha McCarty-Wroten was driving a two thousand fifteen Ford utility vehicle on Sheridan Road around five forty-six in the evening. According to police reports, McCarty-Wroten was livestreaming on TikTok under the account Tea underscore Tyme underscore three at the time of the incident. An eight-year-old child was in her backseat.

McCarty-Wroten struck pedestrian Darren Lucas as he was crossing at an intersection. Lucas died at the scene. McCarty-Wroten remained at the location and called nine one one to speak with investigators.

Initially, McCarty-Wroten told police she believed she had a green light when she noticed Lucas crossing in front of her vehicle too late to stop. However, surveillance video from nearby businesses revealed she actually had a red light while Lucas had the green signal when she struck him.

In the days following the crash, numerous members of the public contacted Zion investigators about a TikTok video that allegedly showed McCarty-Wroten livestreaming herself driving at the time of the crash. According to reports, McCarty-Wroten was looking at her phone when she glanced back at the road and suddenly screamed as a loud thud could be heard. She was heard saying on the livestream, quote, "F dash dash dash, f dash dash dash, f dash dash dash, I just hit somebody."

Police noted that McCarty-Wroten cooperated with their investigation but declined to allow investigators to search her cellphone. She has been charged with reckless homicide and is being held without bond.

A family representative stated, "The family and myself are glad to see the wheels of justice moving."
