On January fourteenth, officers responded to Quail Run Road following a reported breaking and entering call. According to police reports, a caller and his girlfriend were sleeping when the girlfriend awoke to find Alec William Arinello standing in their bedroom.
The incident escalated beyond the initial bedroom intrusion. Police say Arinello went through the victims' refrigerator and removed multiple food items including queso, eggs and salsa. Investigators report that Arinello then poured queso on the television and furniture throughout the home. The suspect also smashed eggs on the floor and flipped furniture over, causing significant damage to the residence.
Following the incident, authorities launched an extensive search for Arinello. The manhunt lasted more than twenty hours before he was finally apprehended at a residence in the Conway area of Horry County. Police say Arinello was wanted in connection with multiple felony offenses related to the breaking and entering incident.
Arinello is currently being held at the Robeson County Detention Center with no bond set. The investigation remains ongoing and additional charges are possible as authorities continue to examine the evidence from the scene.
The case highlights concerns about residential security and random break-ins in the Conway area. Police have not released information about any prior relationship between Arinello and the victims, suggesting this may have been a random incident.
The victims were not physically harmed during the incident, though they experienced property damage throughout their home from the food vandalism.
