Welcome to Arrest Stories. Former Disney Channel actor Matt Prokop was arrested in Victoria County, Texas on December twenty-fourth, twenty twenty-five, facing serious charges including child pornography possession and bond violations. Here's what may have happened.
Thirty-five-year-old Matt Prokop remains in custody at Victoria County Jail on a one hundred seventeen thousand five hundred dollar bond following his Christmas Eve arrest. The former High School Musical Three actor faces multiple charges including possession or promotion of child pornography, resisting arrest, and violation of bond or protective order.
The current charges stem from alleged violations of bond conditions from a previous case filed in twenty twenty-four. In May twenty twenty-four, Prokop was arrested after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend and charged with aggravated assault family and resisting arrest. He was released on bond with specific conditions that authorities say he violated.
The Victoria County Sheriff's Office confirmed the arrest to media outlets on January twelfth, twenty twenty-six. Prokop faces a warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in a family violence case that was brought forth in twenty twenty-four.
This arrest comes years after actress Sarah Hyland, Prokop's former girlfriend, accused him of verbal and physical abuse during their five-year relationship. In May twenty fourteen, Hyland alleged that Prokop slammed her into a vehicle and choked her during an argument. She also claimed he threatened to kill her dog and burn down her house.
Hyland was granted a restraining order against Prokop in May twenty fourteen. Modern Family co-star Julie Bowen reportedly intervened and helped Hyland end the relationship. In previous statements, Hyland said the effects of the alleged abuse continue to impact her life, stating "After many years of abuse, the effects are still very real and continue to impact my life."
Prokop remains in custody at Victoria County Jail as the legal proceedings continue.
